The newest edition of our quarterly newsletter was mailed at the end of June and has been posted to our website. There are many informative articles included, so be sure to watch for it in the mail or read it online! Please let us know if you have had a change of address in the last few months, so that we can be sure you receive a newsletter.

We are currently partnering with the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs to collect food items for the Sunnyvale Community Services. Each month has a different food theme which is posted below so that you know which foods to donate if you wish to do so. Please feel free to bring your donations to the clinic.
                August - Mac & Cheese
September - Meals in a Can - Beef Stew, Spag. O's , etc.
                October - Powdered milk
                November - Soups
                December - Tea/Instant Coffee/ Hot Chocolate.

We are still seeing MANY cases of Giardia. Unfortunately, it is a very hardy parasite and often requires repeated treatment. If your pet is showing signs of loose stools or diarrhea, please bring them in for an exam, and bring a fresh fecal sample with you so we can submit it for testing.  Giardia is treatable, but it also a potential human health risk!  Because of the extended problem, we are now offering a special with our annual exam: a wellness fecal test with a Giardia test for only $46.50.  This is a $23 savings and will ensure that your pet is Giardia-free.

Interested in getting a puppy?  Be very careful of going online or looking in the newspaper for purebred puppies.  A lot of the "breeders" are intermediaries for puppy mills, which are facilities where dogs are kept in deplorable conditions and many puppies have health problems.  If you visit the puppy and its parents are not there, please walk away, no matter how cute the puppy is. In order to help you find a responsible breeder, we offer FREE half-hour puppy consultations. During this appointment, Dr. Sawyer goes over the questions you should ask breeders to lessen your chances of getting a puppy mill dog. He also can go over specific information about the breed you are interested in and answer questions that you may have.

Do you have pet toys that are no longer played with, food your pet no longer likes, or other used but in good shape pet items?  You can bring them in to Murphy Avenue Pet Clinic and we will take them to Pets In Need, a local no-kill shelter, where they can be used by pets who aren't as lucky as yours.  Dr. Sawyer makes quarterly trips to bring the gifts of joy.
